5 finds!

So I am going to be on a plane to NYC in about 8 days! YESS. I'm pumped for the sight seeing, food, MUSICALS, and also.. the fashion! I'm definitely going to be surveying what the regular new yorkers are wearing on the streets, to the theatres, etc. And possibly blogging about them... and anything else blog worthy in the trip (i.e. hotel, restaurants)!
Speaking of fashion... summer is here! Here are some items that I would keep an eye out for!
Urban Outfitters
Wide brimmed hats are great for protecting your face from the sun, and are super in style right now!

Forever 21
Color block items are really in as well, and colorblock patterns are on any kind of clothing! (shorts, bags, hats, dresses... and shirts!) I think this pastel pattern really works!
forever 21
Bold, funky patterned shades... self explanatory.
OPI "In my back pocket"
Orange--- one of my favorite nail polishes right now... great for summer.

urban outfitters
One shoulder/across the body bags are functional and fun!

I love fashion because it truly is something that allows us to express our artistic likes in what we wear! However, a girl who is pretty on the outside and ugly on the inside is just a nice shell with no substance inside.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.      Proverbs 31:10

Have a great week... and goodluck on finals!

Not Pretty Enough?

I am a people pleaser. So when I am not satisfactory to someone, or I let someone down, my self worth takes a beating. I came upon this song by Kasey Chambers that really nails these feelings I'm sure many teens face as well.

Lyrics:
Am I not pretty enough?
Is my heart too broken?
Do I cry too much?
Am I too outspoken?
Dont I make you laugh?
Should I try it harder?
Why do you see right through me?

I live, I breathe, I let it rain on me,
I sleep, I wake, I try hard not to break,
I crave, I love, Ive waited long enough,
I try as hard as I can.

Am I not pretty enough?
Is my heart too broken?
Do I cry too much?
Am I too outspoken?
Dont I make you laugh?
Should I try it harder?
Why do you see right through me?

I laugh, I feel, I make believe its real,
I fall, I freeze, I pray down on my knees,
I hope, I stand, I take it like a man,
I try as hard as I can.
Sometimes it seems no matter how hard you try, things in your life, like relationships crumble.
And this song expresses that perfectly.
There is something, however that his song doesn't cover.

Proverbs 31;10
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For she is more precious than rubies."
The theme verse of this blog, and one of my life verses.
The most expensive ruby ever sold was valued at 3.6 million dollars.
It's time we take a look at ourselves and revalue!!!

In the eyes of the maker of the universe, his daughters are worth WAY more than a 3.6 million dollar rock!
So... YES we ARE pretty enough... We don't cry too much, and we're not too outspoken!;)

Whistleblower for Peace

One of my favorite accessories is my whistle, because it can practically be worn with any outfit, and it is wearable by guys and girls!

Not only is it a fun and unique necklace, but the story and symbolism behind this piece of jewelry is worthwhile.

Falling Whistles gives a small window into our world’s largest war. In the Congo war, Little boys too small to hold a gun are sent to the front lines of war armed with only a whistle.

The Falling Whistles campaign is simply put... this: make the little boy's weapon your voice and be a whistleblower for PEACE in the DRC.
ALL sales profits of merchandise goes to the cause of ending this war, and peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"To help the children forced to the front lines of war, the war must end. The first step toward that goal is to change the way we advocate in the West."
As Christ followers, it is our calling to aide the oppressed, and come to their rescue, and I love what this organization is doing! To learn more specifics about the war, find out how you can help, and purchase your whistle, go to fallingwhistles.com

Hitting the books. And prayer.

Lately I have been SWAMPED with school work and such. It seems like everything gets thrown at you at once! So between homework, studies, tests, rehearsals, and auditions... when in the world do you have time for reading anything but your assigned english book...(such as the bible)...? My solution... get a lamp next to your bed, and read before you go to sleep.

Have you ever been on the phone with someone you care about and talk untill one of you falls asleep? Thats what I find mysellf doing every night before bed. Just talking about my day with the Lord. I would like to challenge you to try it out! You may feel funny at first, like your talking to the ceiling, or the inside of your eyelids. But God hears our prayers, and just a mustard seed of faith is all it takes. Vent about your day or the people in your life that you're worried about, things you are thankful about from your day, questions you wish to pose to the Lord, anything! If you are more of an early riser, you could pray while your getting ready in the morning.

Put GOD on speed dial!
So there is my challenge. The more comfortable you get talking with God, the easier it becomes. The big clincher that ends a lot of relationships is communication. And your relationship with God is just so! But he'll always be there when you call.
 Another Matthew West song!
Lyrics are powerful, and explores the spirit of prayer!

Stress, Fashion, Bible, Hip-hop.

I do not like stress. Who does? Today was just one of those days when everyone around you is in a bad mood, and the tension/awkward in the air could be cut with a knife. (I blame the icky weather).
It's crazy how your environment so much affects your ability to work and your attitude. Ever hear the old saying bad company corrupts good character? I definitely would say that is a valid point.

SO.................on a fashion note!
Went back to urban outfitters with a friend and got a ROMPER (on sale of course) Thought I'd share it...
Sooooo looking forward to when it gets warm again so I can wear it! (Come on! It's May and 53 degrees?)

When you're having a frustrating day,or it's not warm enough to wear your romper, or a bad hair day, maybe this will give you some joy:
In heaven, there won't be any bad weather, or bad hairdays!!
YES!

 Psalm 23:1-4
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness.
For His name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Love this verse... lying down in a green pasture sounds good right about now!
....Which reminds me of a song!
for those hiphop lovers! Group 1 Crew has a unique style while keeping its message true.

Have a great week!
